Therapy is deeply personal.

Finding the right therapist should be, too.

Choosing a therapist isn't just about finding someone with the right credentials. It's about finding someone whose way of understanding people resonates with you.

My work is grounded in a simple belief: people make sense. Together, we'll explore the influences that have shaped your life—not to determine what's "wrong" with you, but to better understand how you've learned to navigate the world and what becomes possible as that understanding grows.

If that way of thinking feels like a good fit, here's a little more about the person behind the work.

The Art & Science of Therapy

Effective therapy is both an art and a science. Over more than twenty years in practice, my work has evolved through a lifelong fascination with the human experience, thousands of hours sitting with clients, and an ongoing commitment to learning what truly helps people create lasting change.

My work has been shaped by years of education, consultation, advanced training, personal growth, and—perhaps most importantly—the privilege of learning from the people I work with every day. My clients continue to be my greatest teachers.

Today, I integrate perspectives from various well-established theories and frameworks, including modern attachment science, interpersonal neurobiology, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness-Based Self-Compassion (MBSC), and humanistic-existential psychotherapy. Rather than relying on any single model, I tailor my approach to the unique needs, strengths, and goals of each person.

Research matters. Theory matters. Technique matters. But lasting change happens within the context of a trusted, genuine therapeutic relationship—one where you feel understood, emotionally safe, and supported enough to grow.

The greatest privilege of this work isn't having the answers.

It's helping people discover their own.

Whatever brings you here, we'll begin there.

Human experiences exist on a spectrum.

Some people arrive overwhelmed by trauma, anxiety, depression, panic, loneliness, or profound grief. Others simply recognize that something feels off, or wonder whether life could feel more connected, meaningful, or fully their own. Some are navigating major transitions or difficult decisions and sense it's time for something to change.

You don't need to compare your pain to someone else's or wonder whether it's "bad enough" to deserve therapy. If something is getting in the way of the life you want to live—or you're simply curious about who you might become with the right support—therapy is an appropriate place to begin.

While every person's story is unique, here are some of the areas I most commonly help people navigate:

What you can expect from me in the room…

My style is personable, conversational, and deeply engaged. I'll listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, offer observations, and share practical tools when they're helpful. Some sessions may be reflective. Others may be challenging, creative, or unexpectedly full of laughter.

I also believe you should understand what we're doing in therapy and why. I'll be transparent about how I think, welcome your questions and feedback, and regularly check in to make sure our work continues to feel meaningful and useful. Therapy isn't something I do to you. It's something we build together.

I also believe healthy relationships include room for honesty and repair. If something doesn't feel right between us, I hope you'll tell me. Those conversations are often some of the most meaningful opportunities for growth.

Above all, I don't take lightly the trust, vulnerability, time, and financial investment therapy requires. My responsibility is to create a space that feels safe, thoughtful, collaborative, and worthy of that trust.

My Personal Context

While therapy is never about the therapist, it's natural to wonder something about the person you'll be sharing your story with.

I grew up in a large Italian-American family in the Northeast before ending up in the South. Living in so many different communities throughout my life has deepened my appreciation for diverse perspectives and reinforced my belief that people are almost always more complex than first impressions suggest.

I'm endlessly fascinated by growth—how people adapt, how relationships shape us, how our nervous systems respond to the world around us, and what helps us continue evolving throughout our lives. That same curiosity extends beyond psychology and into the natural world.

For instance, caring for my ever-growing collection of houseplants has become one of my unexpected teachers in midlife, reminding me that growth must be cultivated by creating the conditions where life can thrive. When we partner with a living thing’s natural potential, thriving is not just possible, but inevitable. And even the most resilient plants need support along the way.

Like many of the people I work with, my own life has included uncertainty, difficult decisions, loss, changing identities and roles, and seasons that have reshaped what matters most. For me, a good sense of humor and a playful approach to life remain my top non-negotiables. I've learned that laughter and tears often coexist, and both have an essential place in healing and becoming your most authentic self.

Most of all, I want you to know I'm every bit as human as you are. While I bring years of experience and training, you are the expert on your own life. My role is to bring curiosity, perspective, and compassion so that together we can make sense of your experience and discover what comes next.
